Many actors, even comedians, fear to co-act in stand-up comedy with Krishna Abhishek either for his impromptu puns on them or for hisseeminglypretentious spanksthatare oftentimesludicrously real. As a nephew of Bollywood hero Govinda, Krishna hasn’t attained much Bollywood fame yet, but he has maintained the comical legacy of his uncle that he showed in films. Krishna is now known as one of the best stand-up comedians in Hindi for his streak in the long running comedy show called Comedy Circus that is telecast on Sony channel. His name is equated alongside other star stand-up comedians such as Sudesh Lehri, Kapil Sharma, Bharati Singh and Raju Srivastav. Sudesh and Krishnahave oftenbeen acknowledged as the best ever stand-up comedian pair by the Comedy Circus judge Archana Puran Singh. Krishna’s typical entry on the stage as a stand-up comedian is almost always commenced with a dance. Krishna has been a part of Comedy Circus’ 12 seasons of the 16 seasons so far. Of these, he has been the winner six times along with various partners in various seasons. Most of the times, he was eclipsed by Kapil Sharma’s extraordinary acts which incessantly won the judges’ favour. Out of Kapil Sharma’s appearances in seven seasons of Comedy Circus, he had won the first six. But some of these were shared wins which also involved Krishna.
Descending from a celebrity family, Krishna is possessed with a lot of talent in terms of acting and dancing. Although he is more favourably known to be a comedian, he has also shown that he can donweighty and serious roles when needed.His debut on television came with the drama series Just Mohabbat (1996-2000), in which he had played the role of a child, whereas his debut in films came when he was still a teenager. His first film was Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat Hai (2002), which was followed up by Hum Tum Aur Mom(2005), Jahan Jaaeyega Hamen Paaeyega (2007), and Aur Pappu Pass Ho Gaya (2007). Subsequently, he shifted to Bhojpuri films. He was also seen in the lead role of the television serial Sautela (2007) which was telecast on Doordarshan. He had also appeared as a co-judge with Sudha Chandranon the stand-up comedy show Krazzy Kiya Re. Till date, Rohit Shetty’s film Bol Bachchan (2012) one of his most commercially successful films.
Other than being an actor, Krishna has also been a prolific dancer who hasoften exhibited his dancing talent in his stand-up comedy. But as a dancer, he appeared in the celebrity reality shows Nach Baliye (Season 3) (2007) and Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar Kabhi Kabhii Yaar (2008) along with his girl friend Kashmira Shah. The couple had eventually won in the latter show. Consequent to this, he appeared on Jalwa Four 2 Ka 1 (2008) and also Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Season 4) with the assistance of choreographer Robin Merchant.
