Chetanya Adib is one of theredundant faces for television soap addicts. In one of the most prominent roles, he is seen as the father of the protagonist Anandi of the serial Balika Vadhu (2008-present) that is telecast on the Colours channel. Due to Chetanya’s Rajasthani upbringing, the Rajasthani backdrop of the serial soberly suits Chetanya’s role as Anandi’s father. Like Balika Vadhu, Chetanyahas also donned cameo roles in many other television serials. Prior to Balika Vadhu, Chetanya was seen in the role of the antagonist Kunjan Pratap Singh in the Zee TV serial Saat Phere (2005-2009).
Chetanya’s maternal grandfather Prem Ji Adib, a renowned actor of the 1950s, was an inspiration for Chetanya. As a passionate actor, Chetanya Adib has been active in theatre plays and television soap opera. Having performed in many theatre plays in Jaipur, Chetanya moved from Jaipur to Mumbai to pursue a greater ambition. Chetanya’s ample experience had provided him a lot of confidence. His debut serial was Yuddh of Kushan Nandi. His small role in the serial was only a softstart for him. Following this, he played a more elaborate villain’s role in the serial Kunti that was telecast on Doordarshan for over two years. Consequently, he appeared in numerous serials such as Mumkin, Swaraj, Papa, Babul Ki Duayen Letee Ja, CID, Aahat, Suraag, Lekin, Mohra and many others. Chetanya has also hosted several shows on channels such as Zee TV and ATN.
Chetanya’s affiliation to the film industry is more through his voice than his acting. Although he has acted in a few Bollywood films, he is largely unknown as a film actor, whereas, his forte has been to provide voices for foreign films that are dubbed into Hindi. Most of these foreign films are Hollywood films. So far, he has provided voice for some very popular Hollywood action films such as Batman, Superman, andSpiderman. Usually his voice dub is used for the famous Hollywood stars Keanu Reeves, Wesley Snipes, Sean Connery, Christopher Reeves, Val Kilmer, and Sylvester Stallone.
